PURPOSE:To provide the titled sealant consisting of rubbery material and drier such as molecular sieve and silica gel, which insures airtightness of space formed between double-layer glass plates, prevents penetration of water vapor and moisture condensation within the space. CONSTITUTION:The sealant A is obtained by blending and dispersing 100pts.wt. rubbery material (e.g. butyl rubber), 30-250wt% drier consisting of molecular sieve and/or silica gel having air intaking voids and a particle size of 100 mesh or smaller, and, when necessary, filler and lubricant such as carbon black, CaCO3 and TiO2. First-step sealing is done with the sealant on the periphery of internal space C formed between two sheets 1 of double layer glass B by means of a spacer 2. Then the sealant A and an aluminum foil adhesive tape 4 are applied to the outside of the glass plates for second-step sealing.
