PURPOSE:To manufacture an aromatic polyamide yarn having high tensile strength and high modulus and free from fluffs, without causing the fusion of the filaments, by treating an aromatic polyamide yarn with an aqueous dispersion containing specific inorganic fine powder and an inorganic compound capable of forming hydrated gel, and drawing the treated yarn under heating. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide yarn is treated with an aqueous dispersion containing (A) inorganic fine powder composed mainly of hydrated magnesium silicate having an average particle diameter of <=5mu and (B) an inorganic compound capable of forming hydrated gel (e.g. inorganic compound composed mainly of aluminum silicate) at a weight ratio of preferably 95:5-50:50, and the treated yarn is drawn under heating. The amount of the inorganic mixture attached to the yarn is preferably 0.05-20wt%. |
