For the production of printing rollers for electromechanical printing systems, a rubber tube forming the outer covering, in said rubber tube a lead tube matched to the internal diameter thereof and, in a fixed position, the shaft are placed in a pressure-resistant mould. The hollow space between shaft and lead tube is filled under high pressure with plastic in such a manner that the lead tube comes to bear under plastic deformation against the inner wall of the rubber tube and compresses the rubber tube. <IMAGE>
