The invention describes a device to prevent gnawing by animals of motor vehicle parts, such as brake hoses and radiator hoses. An ultrasonic generator is provided on the vehicle, which generator is switched on when the ignition is switched off and then runs for a period which can be predetermined, perhaps depending on the temperature of the engine.
