Said sparging device is used to introduce a gas into a liquid, especially into waste water to be treated. To this end, a unilaterally sealed base body is provided which is connected to a gas supply part via at least one gas supply duct. The base body is encompassed by a tubular membrane which at both ends is fastened to the base body by means of pipe clamps or the like. The tubular membrane has a perforation for the passage of the gas into the liquid. In the region of the air supply ducts mentioned the membrane is not perforated, so that the air supply ducts are sealed when the gas supply is interrupted.
