PURPOSE:To form a two-color finish layer consisting of gold and black colors by plating Ni or Pd on the surface of a blank material for the external material of a time piece and plating further Au thereon over the entire surface then coating a masking paint to part of the plated surface and stripping the Au in the exposed part of the Au plating layer then subjecting the material to a black chromium plating. CONSTITUTION:The Ni or Pd plating layers is formed on the surface of the external part 2 made of a stainless steel or steel alloy for the time piece. Au plating layer 4 is formed thereon over the entire surface and thereafter the masking paint 5 is coated to the required part to mask said part. The Au plating layer of the part where Au is exposed without having the masking paint 5 is stripped and removed by a stripping soln. The stripping soln. is washed away immediately thereafter and then the part from which the Au plating is removed is subjected to a black chromium plating treatment to form the black chromium plating layer 6. The masking paint 5 is then dissolved and removed by a solvent and the beautiful two-color finish layer consisting of a gold finish part 4 and a black finish part 6 is formed.
