The aircraft which is used for monitoring purposes has an outwardly curved cupola (1) on each side, on the sides of the aircraft fuselage, which cupola (1) consists of glass-like transparent plastic. Such a cupola accommodates a photographic camera (4) which, as a result of this arrangement, is provided with a very good field of view (6), to be precise both laterally and in the vertical plane. In particular, the space inside the cupola (1) is accessible from the seat in the pilots' cockpit (3), so that the camera can be operated. <IMAGE>
