PURPOSE:To reduce greatly both the number of parts and the cost of parts by providing a hinge part and a spring element to a rack. CONSTITUTION:A hinge part 15 is provided to a rack 14 and therefore the rack 14 can turn round the part 15 with no play. While the rack 14 is pressed against a pinion 8 by a spring element 16. Then the element 16 slides on an attachment base 17 of an optical pickup feed mechanism and always pressed the rack 14 against the pinion 8 despite the shift of an optical pickup 1. Therefore, the rack 14 is always in press contact with the teeth of the pinion 8 to produce no backlash. In such constitution, the rack 14 can be fixed to the pickup 1 with a screw 3. This can reduce greatly both the number of parts and the cost of parts.
