PURPOSE:To provide a sealing material which makes the most of inherent characteristics of components to enhance the sealing quality and controls stress relaxation, prepd. by dissolving a mixt. of polyorganosiloxane and polydiorganosiloxane and an aminoxy group-contg. org. silicon compd. in an org. solvent. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. mixt. or condensate (A) of (a) 100pts.wt. benzene-soluble polyorganosiloxane and 20-1,000pts.wt. (b) polydiorganosiloxane and 20- 1,000pts.wt. an aminoxy group-contg. org. silicon compd. (B) are dissolved in an org. solvent (C) contg. no active hydrogen atom in such amts. that (A)+(B) may account for 10-70wt% of (A)+(B)+(C). The resulting soln. is applied to a base material by coating or impregnation (a) consists of a SiO2 unit and a unit of the formula (where R<1> is a monovalent hydrocarbon group) in a ratio of 1:0.4-1.0 by mol and has 0.0004-1 reactive group linked to Si per one Si. (b) has a viscosity of 30-1,000,000cP at 25 deg.C and contains terminal silanol groups.
