PURPOSE:To detect graphic coordinates only by a character cursor and to execute graphic processing simply by the movement of the character cursor by making the moved distance of one character by the cursor on a virtual screen correspond to the unit movement of graphic processing to execute graphic processing. CONSTITUTION:When a virtual display mode for setting a virtual screen is set to the size of 16 times a normal display screen 3 in both lateral and longitudinal directions, the lateral movement of 8 characters corresponds to the lateral display of 8X16 characters and the longitudinal movement of 8 characters corresponds to the longitudinal display of 8X16 characters. Consequently, one unit of graphic display can be moved every one movement of the character moving carsor 4 and the graphic coordinates on the whole screen can be extracted in accordance with the movement. A normal screen 5 before the setting of the virtual screen is shifted to the state of the virtual screen 6 and the cursor 4 is set on a slightly upper left position from the center part of the display screen 3. A block corresponding to one character is displayed as a dotted line on the virtual screen 6. The block is a character block 7 displaying the range of one character and a character block 8 positioning the cursor 4 is located on the center of the virtual screen 6.
