Conversion of a system forming ''light writing'' in order to allow display of a chosen geometric pattern which is variable as a function of a sound modulation in order to obtain an artistic type effect. According to the invention, the sound ambiance of a room is picked up by a microphone 15, the resulting signal is processed by an integrator 17 and an analog-digital converter 18, the resultant digital data being introduced at the level of the microprocessor 13 of the light writer 11 which is also coupled to at least one auxiliary program memory MP1.
