PURPOSE:To prevent bridging of matching oil in an inadequate position by spacing the cut ends of optical fibers to a prescribed space by a specing means after coating of matching oil thereto and resetting the coating means to the home position by a resetting means. CONSTITUTION:A dash plate 18 where the matching oil 20 stagnates rises upon rotation of a cam 4; at the same time, cams 1, 2 rotate as well and L-shaped arms 11, 12 move respectively in the direction F. The cut ends 15a, 15b of the fibers strike against the plate 18 and the space between the end faces of the fibers is set to the thickness of the plate 18. Since microprojections 1a, 2a are provided to the cams 1, 2 as means for spacing the cut ends 15a, 15b to the prescribed space, the fibers 15a, 15b retreat upon additional rotation of a cam shaft 3 and thereafter the plate 18 descends. The bridging of the matching oil in an inadequate position is thus prevented and the adequate aligning and welding operation is made possible. |
