PURPOSE:To reliably drain residual oil, by a method wherein a means, which drains oil in a storage tank to the outside of a ship, is connected to the lower part of a cargo oil pipe, extending from a pump to a manihold, or the bottom part of a bilge well through a shut-off valve. CONSTITUTION:A residual oil recovery device 10, provided with a draining means 14 which drains oil in a storage tank 11 to the outside of a ship, is connected to the lower part of a cargo oil pipe 3, running from a pump 5 to a manihold 7, directly through a check-off valve 8. Or, the device is connected to the bottom part of a bilge well 3 formed to the bottom part of a hatch through the shut-off valve 8. This enables almost all residual oil to be drained to the outside of a ship, and permits prevention of mixture of residual oil with sea water ballast.
