The compositions according to the invention are based on the joint action of water-miscible organic solvents, of sequestering agents of the ions responsible for the hardness of the water and of a synergic surface-active system composed of: a. an anionic surface-active agent of the alkali metal, ammonium or alkanolammonium alkylbenzenesulphonate type, or their mixtures with other anionic surface-active agents; b. a nonionic surface-active agent of the oxyethylenated alkylphenol type; so that the proportion of a. to b. is between 1.5:1 and 3.5:1 and the total sum of surface-active substance in the whole of the composition is between 5 % and 20 % by weight of the latter. <IMAGE>
