PURPOSE:To monitor the operation of a data processing system after the break conditions are satisfied by delivering a stop signal to a microprocessor when a prescribed period of time passed after the break conditions are satisfied. CONSTITUTION:A detection signal phiC is deliveres for start of the counting action of a counter 22 when a break conditions deciding circuit 21 detects the break point of a program. Then a time-out signal phit is sent to a break generating circuit 23 when the count value of the counter 22 reaches a prescribed level. The circuit 23 sends an MPU interruption stop signal IRQ to an MPU 10 to discontinue the actuation of the MPU 10. Then the circuit 23 delivers a trace stop signal phist to a trace circuit 12 to stop the fetching of signals on a bus.
