PURPOSE:To obtain a process for producing a toner having excellent cleaning property electrification stability and blocking property by subjecting a polymerizable monomer to emulsion polymn. in the presence of a coloring material and/or magnetic powder to produce a main resin component and subjecting the same to salting out so that the particles in the emulsified polymer liquid have the grain size suitable for the toner. CONSTITUTION:The polymerizable monomer is emulsified and dispersed in an aq. medium contg. an emulsifier and is polymerized in the emulsion polymn. of the polymerizable monomer. The coloring agent and/or magnetic powder as well as a polymn. initiator are made present in the stage of such emulsion polymn. The polymn. is progressed until the degree of polymn. attains >=99wt% and the polymer having >=50,000wt. average mol.wt. is more preferable. The particles sized to about <=3mum are obtd. by the emulsion polymn. A salting out agent is added to the resultant emulsion polymer liquid to floccuate adequately the particles by salting out, by which the imperfectly spherical resin particles having the larger average grain size than the average grain size of the particles in the emulsion polymer liquid and suitable for the toner without requiring pulverizing are obtd. More specifically, the particles are adjusted to 9-15mum average grain size. |
