In the device shown, a block (15) is connected upstream of the flow heater (11), which block ensures that the pipe coil (13) is supplied with water at a temperature, at which no condensation water with corrosive combustion residues, e.g. sulphurous acid, forms on the outside of the pipe coil. Situated as mixing member (29) in the block (15) is an injector which draws in hot water from the outlet (27') and adds it to the cold water flowing from the cold water connection (21). The block (15) also contains a bypass (33), a valve (55) being provided, with which the cold water quantity flowing through the bypass (33) can be regulated in order to keep the temperature at the inlet of the flow heater as high as possible, for example at 47 DEG C. As a result, formation of condensation water in the flow heater is avoided. <IMAGE>
