Centrifugal pump

The invention relates to a centrifugal pump having an impeller which, by means of a bearing, is rotatably mounted in a casing. A known centrifugal pump of this type is constructed essentially without roller bearings and sleeve bearings, at least two slip rings being provided for hydrodynamic bearings. The casing as well as the impeller in this centrifugal pump are made of plastic, so that, on the one hand, aggressive and/or corrosive media can be pumped, but, on the other hand, considerable problems arise at temperatures greater than 370 K, because of the relatively high thermal expansion coefficient. With a limited outlay in terms of design and construction, a centrifugal pump of this type is to be improved in that media having higher temperatures should be pumpable without difficulties, while achieving a long useful life. As a solution it is proposed that the impeller (2), together with a shaft, consist of a ceramic material and that a region (20, 22) of the outer face of the impeller (2) be constructed directly as a sleeve bearing face.
