The invention relates to a shoe with an elastic substructure which has a front auxiliary sole (3) extending from the toe as far as the region of the ball, and at the rear end a short auxiliary sole (4), which are connected by a rigid but elastic bridge (5). Fastened on the underside of this bridge is an elastic element (5, 6, 7). The shoe protects the foot of a runner doing sport and eases running. After placing the shoe on the ground, the elastic element is compressed and when, in the further course of the movement, the weight of the runner passes via the central region into the front region of the foot sole, the elastic element (5, 6, 7) is relieved. As a result, the effect of jogging on health, which has been declared disadvantageous by many people, is eliminated. <IMAGE>
