PURPOSE:To prevent an increase in frequency of contact due to lowering of the quantity of floating up of a rail of inner peripheral side and make damage to a head and a disk hard to occur by shifting the position of a pivot that supports a slider by a gimbals to the outer peripheral side. CONSTITUTION:A slider 2 for magnetic head on which a magnetic head 1 is mounted is supported by a gimbals 3 and a load arm 5. When a disk 4 is rotated, air is sucked in between rails 6a, 6b of the slider 2 and the disk 4 to generate pressure, and the slider 2 floats up from the face of the disk 4. The position of the pivot 8 of the gimbals 3 that supports the slider 2 is set at the outer peripheral side by yP from the center in the direction of width of the rail 6a of the outer peripheral side and the rail 6b of the inner peripheral side. As the position of the pivot 8 is deviated to the outer peripheral side in which its peripheral speed is high, the quantity of floating up of the rail 6a of the outer peripheral side becomes equal to the quantity of floating up of the rail 6b of the inner peripheral side. |
