PURPOSE:To make metalforming ever so easy and the promotion of lightweightiness attainable without any drop in rigidity as well as to make the cost of production reducible, by changing a bed from the longitudinal sectional form to a trapezoid, while setting up saddle guide rails there along both edges of a top surface. CONSTITUTION:The existing longitudinal sectional form of an EDM bed 1 is formed into a trapezoid, while saddle guide rails 3 on which a saddle is mounted free of movements are set up along both edges of a top surface. Therefore, each of both side plates of this bed trapezoid resists against the vertical load being imposed on these guide rails, so that vertical rigidity is large enough and since each of trapezoidal two side plates is tilted to some extent, a large difference in the rigidity is not recognized as compared with a fact that the conventional convex type two side plates are vertical. Moreover, the bed's trapezoidal form is of simple in type whereby metalforming is easy and, what is more, a side plate area is sharply reduced, leading to lightweightiness, thus it is manufacturable in an inexpensive manner. |
