PURPOSE:To prevent that fin or burr is made when a wound pipe is cut into prescriptively sized pieces, by constituting the cutting method as cutting a circular groove on the circumference of the pipe using a rotary cutting tool, and then, shearing the circularly grooved part so as to cut off the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A pipe 2 is pushed through straightening rollers 3 and set straight. Then, the pipe 2 is fed to a cutting unit 5 by a feeder 4, a rotary cutting tool 8 is rotated as it passes on circular loci which are concentric with the circumference of the pipe 2, and a circular groove is cut on the pipe 2 by making the radius of gyration of the rotary cutting tool 8 shorter. Next, the rotary cutting tool 8 is separated from the pipe 2 by making the radius of gyration of the rotary cutting tool 8 longer, at the same time, the pipe 2 is fed for a prescribed distance so as to be placed at cutting pieces 6, and the pipe 2 is sheared by making the cutting pieces 6 work along the circular groove. And then, cut pieces of the pipe 2 are fed to a die 7. In this way, the pipe can be cut without making fin or burr. |
