Roller, especially tensioning roller for belt transmissions, consisting of a load-bearing body for a roller-contact bearing, made in the form of a hollow body 5 provided at one of its ends with a bottom 7, the bottom 7 being axially set-back towards the inside of the load-bearing body with the formation of a folded-back crown 6 extending axially in the bore of the hollow body; with a tightening screw 10 passing through the bottom 7 via a hole made in the latter, and fixed to a machine frame 9 or other similar element; and with a roller envelope 4 mounted rotatably on the load-bearing body through the intermediary of a roller-contact bearing. The load-bearing body is fixed to the machine frame 9 so that its edge 8 contiguous with the crown 6 is placed against the machine frame 9 and that the head of the tightening screw 10 is placed on the face of the bottom opposite the folded-back crown. <IMAGE>
