PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of gas insufficiency in the fuel cell by detecting the concentration of gas discharged from the fuel cell and controlling the amount of gas supply according to the detected value. CONSTITUTION:When a fuel reformer 10 is operated according to a control signal from a reforming controller 71, natural gas is reformed into its two major components hydrogen and carbon dioxide which are then supplied to a fuel chamber 5 while controlling their flow rate by a flow rate control valve 31. The hydrogen concentration of gas discharged from the fuel chamber 5 is successively detected by a fuel concentration detector 61. The detected hydrogen concentration detector 61. The detected hydrogen concentration is then fed back to the computing element of the reforming controller 71 and the amount of gas optimum for cell reaction is computed in the computing element. According to the thus computed value, a flow rate controller installed in the reforming controller 71 controls the flow rate control valve 31 to adjuste the amount of fuel supply. By using this control system, the amount of gas supplied to the cell can be constantly monitored and therefore the generation of gas insufficiency can be suppressed. |
