The method is intended for automatically supplying fodder to individual feed troughs for animals, particularly sows, housed in separate pens in a stable. The troughs, which may or may not be provided with individual buffer stores, are supplied by an automatically moving track robot unit, the amount of fodder released at each feeding point being controlled in accordance with the day to day requirements of the individual animals. - As an example for sows, this may be a given quantity during 90 days from the day of covering, a greater quantity during the succeeding 22 days, a lesser quantity until pigging, thereafter a gradually increased quantity to 1 kg plus 0.5 kg per piglet, then for 2 days immediately after weaning no fodder and thereafter an ample ration until the next covering.
