PURPOSE:To prevent the whitening of an image and to increase the density by forming an underlayer and a charge generating layer on an electrically conductive support, subjecting the resulting drum to repeated corona charge and exposure or to AC charge for at least 1min, and forming a charge transferring layer. CONSTITUTION:A sensitive drum 3 obtd. by forming an underlayer and a charge generating layer on an electrically conductive support such as an Al cylinder is subjected to repeated electrostatic charge and exposure for >=1min with a corona discharger 1 and an exposure 1amp 2 in an electric field having <=100kV/cm intensity before foring a charge transferring layer on the drum 3. The quantity of light for the exposure is <=10 times the quantity of light for ordinary imagewise exposure. The drum 3 may be subjected to AC charge at <=400V for >=1min through rollers 4. Thus, the whitening of an image is prevented and the density is increased. |
