PURPOSE:To prevent generation of rust by a method, in which wells consisting of an inner lead wire and an outer lead wire are buried into lead glass for forming a stem followed by forming a coating of an Ni-P alloy on the lead wires by a non-electrolytic plating method. CONSTITUTION:An inner lead wire 11 containing 0.01-0.02% of C on both sides of a dumet wire 13 and an iron wire as an outer lead wire 12 are welded together for forming wells 14. Then, a stem for the electron gun of a cathode-ray tube is fired while using wells 14 and lead glass. Next, the oxides on the surfaces of both lead wires 11 and 12 and Pb reduced on the glass surface are removed for being treated in a non-electrolytic Ni plating liquid consisting of NiSO4-6H2O, natrium acetate, natrium citrate, boric acid and natrium hypophosphite for forming the Ni-P alloy plating coatings 111 and 121. Accordingly, generation of rust can be prevented by improving the process workability. |
