PURPOSE:To change the size of a billet width without the halt of a casting operation by providing dam blocks which are held in place between upper and lower belts and turn in parallel with upper and lower belts and forming the dam blocks in such a way that the movement thereof can be adjusted in the transverse direction of a mold. CONSTITUTION:A roller chain 11 wound on two sprockets 9 rotatable in parallel with upper and lower belts 1, 3 is disposed on the outside of a mold in the transverse direction thereof. Guide rod bearings 13 which can be held in place between the belts 1 and 3 and can be fixed to guide rods 19 by the holding force thereof are provided on the outside of the respective links 12 of the chain 12. The rods 19 are mounted to the bearings 13 slidably in the direction perpendicular to the link 12 direction. Blocks 6 constituting dam blocks 5 are fixed to the top ends of the rods 19 and width-change adjusters 27, 28, 29 provided with guide rails 25, 26 for moving the blocks 6 in the transverse direction of the mold while guiding the same are disposed on the inlet side of the mold. |
