A vehicle has an automatic transmission and a selector lever (60) for selecting one of a number of operating ranges in the transmission. A Ds-range switch (50) is operated when the selector lever is operated to select the driving range, while a D-range switch (61) is operated when the D-range is selected. A logic gate circuit (53-55, 63) responds to signals of the selector lever switches to cause clutch current to flow. Ds-range switch (50) has a delay circuit (52) which respond to the opening of that switch by producing a delayed output which opens the logic gate circuit. The clutch thus remains engaged for a predetermined period after the operation of the selector lever, and until the D-range switch (61) is closed. The D-range switch (61) has a similar delay circuit (62) to maintain the clutch engaged between the opening of the D-range switch and the closing of Ds-range switch (50). |
