A multiple-phase motor (1) has a number of energising windings (2, 3) energised by a power supply (9). The motor (1) has an output shaft (5) carrying one part (6) of a magnetic coupling, the other part (7) being inside the envelope (8) of a magnetron. A reactive impedance (10) is connected across two of the energising windings of the motor (1) and switch means (11) are provided to disconnect the power supply (9) from the junction between one end of the impedance (10) and one of the said two windings. <IMAGE> |
