PURPOSE:To release exactly a reel brake by a small force, and to secure a stable operation by forming the tip side part of a press-contact engaging surface so as to go along a locus drawn by a brake piece passing through a contact point, or to be in the inside. CONSTITUTION:When a tape cartridge is loaded, a tip claw part 14a of a brake piece 14 receives a working force so as to turn in the direction as indicated with an arrow Q around a pivot 7. In this case, a contact point P to a projecting corner part 5b of an engaging tooth 5 in a press-contact engaging surface 22 of the claw part 14a moves continuously to the tip side. Also, a tip side part 21a of the engaging surface 21 is in the inside of a turning locus of the contact point P, therefore, the engaging surface 21 contacts to the projecting corner part 5b and the tip claw part 14a is drawn out of the engaging tooth, and a reel brake can be released exactly by a small force.
