PURPOSE:To accelerate the switching operation by providing an auxiliary semiconductor switch in series with a gate turn OFF thyristor (GTO) driven in switching. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary semiconductor switch 5 which is conducted simultaneously with the GTO1 and interrupted after an anode current becomes a tail current or lower at the interrupting time of a GTO1 when the GTO1 is interrupted is provided in series with the GTO1 driven in switching. In other words, the switch 5 is provided in series with the GTO1 to construct a composite switch, and the tail current of the GTO1 is interrupted by the switch 5. |
