<p>Scrap material cut by a shear is gripped by a vertically and transversely movable scrap-gripping and conveying mechanism which feeds the strip generally parallel to the back side of the shear into a pinch roll drive. The scrap is then fed into a slot of a scroll spindle. The spindle is rotated, and the scrap wraps around the spindle into a compact cylindrical package. Once the scrap is entirely rolled on the spindle, the spindle is retracted by a cylinder, and the scrap is pushed off the end of the spindle and falls into a storage area.</p> |
