PURPOSE:To provide an electrochromic display element which is electrochemically active and has a long life and excellent decoloring and coloring characteristics by using a carbon fiber for a counter electrode. CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive substrate 1 is constituted by forming a transparent conductive film 1b consisting of ITO on a transparent glass plate 1a and is formed with an electrodeposited film 2 consisting of iron hexacyanoferrate on the film 1b. Transparent conductive glass 3 as a counter electrode substrate is constituted by forming a transparent conductive film 3b consisting of ITO on a transparent glass plate 3a and is adhered with a carbon fiber 4 on the film 3b by a conductive adhesive agent. An electrolyte 6 consists of, for example, 1mol/l aq. potassium chloride soln. The carbon fiber has larger electrostatic capacity than the electrostatic capacity of active carbon and the smooth progression of an electrochemical reaction is predicted. The phenolic carbon fiber in particular has large electrostatic capacity. |
