Current transformers (T1-T4) are responsive to current levels at locations along and a.c. transmission line (22, 23) the secondary windings of the transformers (T1-T4) being connected so that currents induced therein are all in the same direction in a series circuit (24-26, 28, 29). Resistances (27, 30, 31) are connected between a common connection (25) of the series circuit and respective interconnections (26, 28, 29) between the transformers (T1-T4). Devices (32, 33, 34) detect voltages across the resistances (27, 30, 31), any such voltages indicating a difference between the currents acting on adjacent transformers (T1-T4). A further resistor (24) is responsive to the output current from one transformer (T4) to indicate the load current in the line (22, 23). |
