PURPOSE:To provide a planting material for water culture, obtained by kneading and forming an oil-containing clay and whole and calcining the product, and capable of supplying water to the plant continuously for a long period taking advantage of the capillary action. CONSTITUTION:(A) An oil-containing clay (preferably waste clay produced as a by-product in the decoloring process of oils or fats such as beef tallow, lard, repessed oil, soybean oil, etc.) is kneaded with (B) whey (preferably concentrated soybean whey), and the mixture is formed and then calcined preferably by a rotary kiln usually at >=600 deg.C to obtain the objective planting material. It can be used also as an effective feed when mixed with wheat bran, bean curd refuse, etc., and as a solid fuel having an energy merit. |
