摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability in the ultrasonic flaw detection of an austenite type heat resistant cast steel pipe, by using plural sets of ultrasonic wave generation probes and receiving probes, and arranging said sets so as to mutually cross the obliquie transmitting direction of an ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:A first set of an ultrasonic wave generation probe 1X and a corresponding receiving probe 1Y are arranged along the outer peripheral surface of one of heating pipes 2A made of austenite type heat resistant steel, which are used so as to stand close together in a steam catalytic reforming furnace, so as to be shifted in peripheral and axial directions. A second set of an ultrasonic wave generation probe 1Y and a corresponding receiving probe 4Y are arranged so as to be similarly shifted so that beam directed from the probe 1Y to the probe 4y crosses beam directed from the probe 1X to the probe 4x in the wall of the pipe 2A. Flaw detection is performed by rotating the pipe 2A over the entire periphery thereof.
