The present invention relates to novel polychlorophosphazenes and to the process for their preparation. These polychlorophosphazenes of the general formula: Cl2(O)P[NPCl2]nCl are prepared by the polycondensation of P trichloro-N dichlorophosphoryl-monophosphazene with the controlled release of POCl3 according to the equation: <IMAGE> The novel polychlorophosphazenes so obtained are useful as antiflame materials, as coatings, as fertilizers, etc.
