PURPOSE:To improve the insulation resistance of a cable head by testing applying internal pressure in the case housing insulation oil when a direct current charging test is carried out on the cable head in the elephant case of an elephant bushing type transformer. CONSTITUTION:A bushing is installed through a wall which constitutes a transformer 1, an elephant case 2 housing the tip of the bushing is fixed on the wall of the transformer 1 and insulation oil 5 is filled in the case 2. A cable head 3 connected to an external cable 4 is inserted through the bottom of the case 2 and the bushing and the cable head 3 are connected other. The case 2 is sealed with a lid, the surface of the oil 5 is sealed with a diaphragm 6, a pressure valve 7 is installed on the lid above the diaphragm 6 and the diaphragm 6 is pressured with a gas from a gas bombe 8 through a gas hose 9. This method causes no discharge at the time of a charging test.
