PURPOSE:To attain the reading with high resolution and simple adjustment only without color misalignment by arranging adjacently read element arrays photoelectric-converting three color pictures on a board in parallel. CONSTITUTION:The reading element arrays 10a, 10c where plural unit reading elements converting the 1st and 2nd color signals into electric signals are arranged on a line and the reading element array 10b where plural unit reading elements converting the color signals into the 3rd color signal or a luminance signal are arranged on a line are arranged adjacently on a board of a case 1A in parallel. Color filters 11a, 11c to detect the 1st and 2nd colors are provided to the front face of the unit reading elements 3a, 3c of the arrays 10a, 10c. Since no filter is arranged to the array 10b, it acts like a luminance signal image sensor. Only one lens 5 of the optical system is enough by using a color image sensor 4 constituted through the incorporation of the three reading element arrays and the optical adjustment is finished by having only to align the optical centers of a picture, mirrors 6a, 6b, the lens 5 and the sensor 4.
