PURPOSE:To improve the graininess of an image by incorporating a compd. which releases a fogging agent or development accelerator and a compd. which reacts with the oxidant of a color developing agent but does not form a dye in the stage of development in combination into a silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:At least one layer of a silver halide emulsion layer is provided on a substrate and a coupler (e.g.; the formula I , the formula II) which forms a dye by reacting with the oxidant of a color developing agent is incorporated into the silver halide emulsion layer. A compd. (e.g., the formula III, the formula IV) which releases a fogging agent or developing accelerator or the precursor thereof in accordance with the amt. of the developed silver and a compd. (e.g.; 2,5-di-n-octyl hydroquinone, isoamyl ester of gallic acid) which reacts with the oxidant of the color developing agent but does not form a dye in the stage of development are further incorporated in combination into the silver halide emulsion, by which the intended silver halide photosensitive material is obtd. |
