PURPOSE:The titled fiber that is composed of more than a specific amount of acrylonitrile units and has carboxylic groups on the fiber surface in such an amount as they satisfy specific conditions, thus showing improved durability and antistaining properties without adverse effect on light fastness and moisture fastness. CONSTITUTION:Synthetic fibers of an acrylic polymer containing more than 60wt% of acrylonitrile units are treated with an aqueous sodium hydroxide at 85-95 deg.C, washed with water, treated with sulfuric acid, then dyed in a usual manner and dried to give the objective fibers in which at least the polymer of the fiber surface contains COOX (X is alkali metal, NH4, H) by 0.01-0.2mmol/g (assumed as a mmol/g) and the molar ratio of COOX/COOH satisfies the equation. |
