PURPOSE:To avoid overfunction of starter motor reliably by limiting the cranking rotation when starting an engine through a starter motor to such level as corresponding with the engine temperature, the intake air temperature and the battery voltage. CONSTITUTION:Upon turning on of a starting switch 16, when starting an engine 1, a control circuit 17 will first decide whether it is declutched or a speed change mechanism 15 is in neutral position. Upon decision of YES, output signals from an engine temperature sensor 8, an intake air temperature sensor 9 and a source voltage sensor 12 are inputted to calculate the cranking rotation corresponding with the detected engine temperature and battery voltage from two-dimensional map. Then a correction factors for the cranking rotation against the engine starting rotation and for the intake air temperature and said cranking rotation are utilized to obtain a target cranking rotation with correspondence to which the switch 7 is turned on thus to rotate a starter motor 2. |
