The mixt. is fed at a tangent into the separator, at a gap from the upper and the lower base of the unit, so that the fluid and the foam can be sepd. by centrifugal forces. The fluid is given an additional handling phase to break up any residual foam and separate out its gas. The sepd. foam is also treated separately, by spinning it against the separator wall for redn. and sepn. of fluid and gas. Pref. the mixt. is spun against the inner wall of the separator at an angle of 30-90 deg., pref. of 45-70 deg. The fluid is force-fed over a degassing cone and the sepd. gas is recovered.
