PURPOSE:To make a magnetic head land on or off automatically without an increase in weight of a magnetic head assembly by providing a hook which is engaged with an engaging piece provided on the magnetic head assembly and is deformed reversibly its shaped due to a temperature change. CONSTITUTION:A hook 11 is constituted of a flexible plate 7 such as shape memory alloy or bimetal, a heating unit 9 and a heat insulator. When a magnetic disk device is stopped, a magnetic head 1 shifts magnetic head assembly AH so that the assembly HA will access the most inner peripheral track, causes the hook 11 to be engated with a a connecting piece 4 and stops the conduction of electricity to the heating unit 9. The flexible plate 7 is cooled gradually, the hook 11 gradually deforms its top, which bends and acts on the engaging piece 4 of the magnetic head assembly HA, and a load finger 3 bends inside. Finally the magnetic head 1 is separated from a face of a magnetic disk 14. In order to start actions of the magnetic disk device, the heating unit 9 is conducted electricity to head flexible plate 7, and the magnetic head 1 is landed to the face of the magnetic disk 14. |
