PURPOSE:To increase the strength of the device with a seat plate, made of brass having grain size of crystal, and connect to a tank made of resin without employing any fixing member by a method wherein the peripheral rim of the seat plate is caulked through a seal member mounted in a groove provided at the peripheral rim of the seat plate, in the single caulking type heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:The seat plate 1 is formed by brass, consisting of Cu 70-60%, Zn 30-40% and having grain size of crystal 8-30mu. Substantially U-shape groove 2 is provided at the peripheral rim section of the seat plate and a protuberance 3 for caulking is formed at the tip end thereof. The seal member 8 is mounted in the substantially U-shape groove 2 of the seat plate 1. The tank 9 of resin is attached to the seat plate 1 through a skirt section 10, provided at the peripheral rim thereof, and the seal member 8 and is connected to the seat plate 1 water-tightly by the caulking of the protuberance 3 for caulking. According to this method, the resin tank is connected to the seat plate without employing any fixing member, however, the seat plate can sufficiently stand against the permanent deformation generated by the reciprocation of an engine piston and leakage of water will never be caused. |
