PURPOSE:To contain an ink ribbon, by a method wherein an ink ribbon is wound in a spool form, the winding finishing end part of the ribbon is fixed by a fastener or the spool form ribbon is contained in a sub-cassette, thereby storing the ribbon, then the ribbon is fitted into a ribbon cassette, and is sequentially paid out by rollers in the cassette. CONSTITUTION:The ink ribbon 5 is wound in a spool form, then the winding finishing end part is fixed by a U-shaped metallic fastener 6 or the spool form ribbon is contained in the sub-cassette 7, thereby storing the ribbon 5. When using the ribbon, the spool form ribbon is fitted into the ribbon cassette 8, and the winding finishing end part thereof is fitted along a predetermined route in the cassette 8.
