The invention relates to a mast collar as a connecting element between mast and wishbone boom of a rig for a surfboard, with a locking device which holds the mast collar, designed as a body at least partly surrounding the mast surface in an annular manner, in place on the mast. To avoid the need for special tools to secure the mast collar to the mast surface, to ensure that the mast collar is secured only at quite particular, specially designed locations and to substantially facilitate operation when the mast collar and thus the wishbone boom are being secured to the mast, it is proposed that the locking device consist of a wedge body which juts out beyond the top and bottom ends of the collar and is arranged in a longitudinally movable manner in a groove formed on the inside of the collar, extending approximately in the longitudinal direction of the mast and opening towards the surface of the mast, and that the collar can be moved into and out of clamping contact with the mast surface by displacing the wedge body in the groove.
