The invention relates to a modular lamp holder (10) for signal lamps which have an elongated support (12) for a light source (20). It is constructed, in particular, as a laterally open half-tube which has at the upper end (14) a snap holder (22) for the lamp mount (18) and at the lower end (16) a likewise partially open cap (32) for an electronic unit (34) which can be latched therein. On the transition to the cap, the half-tube is concentrically surrounded by a second part tube (24) to which it can be connected via webs (48). A photoresistor (30) can be arranged protected against direct light in the cavity (28) between the two part tubes (12, 24). The part tube (24) has at the upper end a bead (26) by means of which it can be engaged in the signal lamp. The electronic unit (34) has a printed circuit board (36) which is provided on the underside with contact pieces or contact surfaces for the supply of a battery voltage. <IMAGE>
