PURPOSE:To improve the transfer efficiency during monochromatic copying operation and increase the transfer speed by providing an opening part at right angles to the rotating direction of a rotatable hollow cylinder type transfer drum which incorporates a transfer corotron. CONSTITUTION:The transfer drum 7 is placed in a nonrotating stationary state during monochromatic copying operation, and its opening 10 is used while directed to the side of the transfer corotron 15 and an electrostatic discharging corotron 16. Namely, a form 6 fed with a timing roll 20 is passed over the transfer corotron 15 and discharging corotron 16 to transfer an image, and then guided to a vacuum conveyance path 23 in the monochromatic copying operation with a separation claw 8 and carried to a fixing device 22. The opening part 10 of the transfer drum 7 is made wider than the ion discharge area of the transfer corotron 15 and discharging corotron 16 so as to improve the transfer and discharging effect during the monochromatic copying operation. |
